Adventure Club

Adventure Club   Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 6:00-7:30 PM

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6

In Adventure Club children are introduced to the foundational truths of the Christian faith through an ongoing study of the Children's Catechism, which is drawn from the Westminster Shorter Catechism. The children are encouraged to memorize the questions and answers together with accompanying memory verses. There is usually a craft project attached to the lesson.

Following the lesson, the kids have an extended game time-outdoors on the church property in the warm weather- indoors in the fellowship hall, or throughout the church in the cold weather. There is a snack as well.

The program is geared for kids from 2-5th grade. There is some flexibility with this: Younger children sometimes attend, but they must be able to sit and pay attention to a catechism lesson, follow directions for craft projects and "run with the bigger kids" when it comes to raucous games. If they have no reading skills at all, it will be difficult for them.

Adventure Club is more than an excellent teaching ministry. It is as an important portal into the youth ministries of the church and a building of friendships with other children that will continue for many years. It is part of cementing our children into the covenant community.

Adventure Club, more than any other of our Young Peoples Programs is very "parent active" requiring parents to take turns organizing and supervising the games, providing the snacks, and occasionally assisting with the teaching.
